Why do people live in the path of a storm?

When it’s so calm and peaceful inland and away from the ocean.

Why do people live in the path of a storm? When it’s so calm and peaceful inland and away from the ocean.

Hurricane season comes and every time people build near the path of destruction.

Why?

Because it’s too beautiful for the rest of the year to resist.

Is this a metaphor for your dreams? I wonder.

I wonder if living in the path of a storm is a matter of “it” being worth it?

I’m sensitive to the storm and I know it’s hard to be in the world of storms when trying to be the person I’m here to be.

What I realized is that I’m not the house, the boat, the car battered on the shore.

I’m the ocean.

You step into the storm because you know there’s beauty waiting for you.

I wish I knew this when I was younger because I saw less beauty and more storms.

I didn't know that I had to be more of myself to endure the pain or the heartbreak. To find the strength to endure all the obstacles.

Yet, I failed because I banked on searching for the beauty without any guarantees.

This was more than I could take.

Because I didn’t know how to ride the storm.

“Chop wood and carry water.” It’s about being okay with the work that has to be done, because that's the beauty.

Knowing who I’m here to be makes it easy to be me in many different situations.

The point is to move more like water in the ocean versus standing on shore getting beaten by the storm.

Water moves and changes with ease.

Water knows who it is and what it can do. It doesn’t ask the land, the house, the boat, the vehicle to change

  • It goes around it,

  • It goes through it, and

  • it leaves a mark.

To weather the storm you have to know what you can do.

When you know, you’re prepared, you’re more flexible, you’re able to adapt.

And the most important thing is that water doesn’t push everyone aside to get what it wants.

  • Water feels the obstacles,

  • It passes and leaves an impression, and

  • this impression will last.

People will know how you made them feel.

The impression becomes the experience in your community.

Be the water that knows the path it makes.

Move and don’t be afraid to feel, to use compassion for others and yourself.

Everything I do leaves an impression.

Whomever I meet, positive or negative, leaves a watermark.

Be the water.

“You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a single drop.”
